Dylan Tio – Class of 2025
I am Dylan Tio (24-O5), Deputy President of the EJC Choir, and a Music Elective Program student who also studies Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. I had experienced the vibrant culture of EJ right when I first entered as a fresh JC1 student, and the “work hard, play hard” mindset really resonated with me. Here, I have had the opportunities to step out of my comfort zone, be bolder, and explore who I want to be.
The three biggest things that inspired and motivated me in EJ were my friends, family and — this is going to sound a bit strange — my personal failures. When I first joined EJ, the rigours of JC life were quite a change for me, and I faced quite a few unexpected failures in academic and other areas at the start. This motivated me to push forward and never give up.
I am grateful for the support I received from my teachers, who always answered my questions and were willing to meet me for consultations. Throughout all this, my family and friends were the pillar of support I could always count on. Thank you to 24-O5, EJChoir, MEP ‘24 and to everyone else who made my EJC journey that much more special!
There are so many unforgettable experiences to capture in this reflection, that I think I would be better off describing a feeling instead. That feeling would be awe — awe for my fellow Eunoians — their willingness to stay up late to plan events, their resilience when they pull all-nighters in an attempt to catch up with lectures after a long day of CCAs, their multiple talents, and their fiery energy when participating in school events. I learnt that there is truly so much to learn from each and every person I meet and I’ll certainly hold my EJC experience close to my heart.
